Been awhile ...
Stranded - original digital photo, Manteo, NC 2020
The summer got hot and home schooling (which is what virtual learning or distance learning is when you have a young elementary school age child) made painting virtually impossible. I've been instead biking and taking photos and journaling. By the end of each day, I'm exhausted, because I also have a more-than-part-time job. Theoretically, I'm going to start volunteering again at the SPCA and at a community garden, now that life has a semblance of schedules. I love dogs. I love gardening. Those two things I hope will help recharge me.
I haven't figured out how to start painting, but I definitely don't like my studio in the garage. And I don't like the chaos in the house. So somehow, I have to either wait and be patient, or figure something out to make the garage a better place.
Think. Think. Think. Figure something out. Try again and repeat.
So I'm hopeful if the kids go back to school learn after October...
But we will see.
I am saddened I haven't continued painting in any meaningful way. I am saddened everything is expensive too, especially framing and showing.
If I were to do what I want, I would have to spend more money than I could possibly make, and so that isn't realistic for a suburban mom of two who has bills to pay.
I don't know how other artists get to do what they do.
But I do think I missed the boat.
Or my boat got stranded.
